Gemma Rees.
Family Engagement Officer.
I am the Family Engagement Officer at Tremains Primary School, and I am pleased to be part of a dedicated team of staff.
I have been working in Childcare and Education for the past 10 years, 7 of which I worked for Flying Start. Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded programme to provide part- time childcare alongside parenting and language development support together with enhanced health visitor service. During my time there, I was involved in; organising fun and challenging activities for parents to attend with their children, helping the children meet speech and language targets by working alongside speech and language therapists, providing parents support with behaviour management at home, routine and structure and toilet training advice.
I hold a Childcare Learning & Development (CCLD) Level 5 qualification, which I completed whilst working full time and with a small child in the house- So I know how busy and stressful life can be when you’re trying to juggle it all.
As I am passionate about building family engagement and community relationships, my plan is to run groups for parents and carers to attend with their children. These groups are designed to ensure quality, fun and engaging activities which are age and stage appropriate. During these sessions, parents will have the opportunity to develop friendships with each other, share any concerns and enjoy working alongside their children.
My aim is to make the journey at Tremains Primary a welcoming and enjoyable time for all families, so I am here to help and support all the families of Tremains Primary however I can.
I have a family room located in the school, so parents/ carers can contact me at any time, and I’ll be happy to help.
